Watch the hauntingly cinematic video for American Football's "Silhouettes"
Posted 01/08/2019

Tender Tuesday in full effect. American Football have shared the official music video for "Silhouettes" taken from their new album, American Football (LP3), out March 22nd. Directed by Shawn Brackbill, the video is based on a treatment from the band’s own Mike Kinsella, and follows an undulating modern love story of two lovers as they drift in and out of each other's lives. Where they ultimately end up is for viewers to interpret. The palpable chemistry and emotion portrayed by the actors in the beautifully shot autumnal footage are surely aided by the fact that the characters are played by the real-life couple of Cale Parks (of the band Aloha) and his partner Kendra Smalter.

“Familiar without submitting to nostalgia,” writes The FADER of the lead single, “it’s a fresh faced and dew-dropped introduction into a new chapter of American Football.”

The band will celebrate LP3’s release with a show on March 30th at The Metro in Chicago, and on January 19th at Sleeping Village, Mike Kinsella will take part in Talkhouse’s “In Conversation” series with Manchester Orchestra’s Andy Hull as part of the Tomorrow Never Knows festival. Tickets onsale now.
